Job Description

A candidate for a temporary position who has not yet graduated and is working towards a relevant Bachelor's, Specialist's, Technical, Master's or PhD degree from a relevant academic institute. A Student employee can do specific work in the area of their future degree or work as a Generalist in a specific department. The Studentship is limited in time with the intent to hire into an College Graduate/ Technical Graduate position as appropriate.


Qualifications

We are looking for students with programming and scripting skills to develop applications and support the IT infrastructure and services. This includes Infrastructure automation, distributed cloud storage, UNIX and/or Windows System administration.
It would also be desirable if the candidate had familiarity in the following areas:
- Very good understanding of Linux/UNIX infrastructure capabilities
- Very good understanding of Microsoft products like Outlook, O365, Teams etc.
- Interface with internal business unit representatives, engineering and operations teams and help/guide them on technical tasks and guidelines
- Data Structures and Software architecture design methods, techniques, and principles.
- MSSQL or MySQL database programming and/or design.
- Software development processes such as Agile methodology.
The candidate should also have strong communication, team working, and English speaking skills.

Facebook allows employees to work-from-home permanently even as offices reopen





Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg has stated that he believes the shift to remote work will last for a long time in the company and they are planning to hire more employees who can work from anywhere. Facebook recently started reopening its offices after a long shutdown. Facebook has stated that it will provide employees the option of continuing with remote work for a longer duration, even extending help to workers who wish to move to some other country. From 15 June, Facebook will allow any employee whose work can be performed remotely to work that way permanently. "We believe how we work is more important than where we work," Facebook stated announcing the updates to its remote work policy. "We want to be the place where people can do the best work of their careers while ensuring a consistent experience for employees no matter where they're located." Facebook along with other Silicon Valley firms adopted remote work quite early amid the pandemic, leveraging a range of internet tools to get the jobs done. Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg has stated that he believes the shift to remote work will last for a long time in the company and they are planning to hire more employees who can work from anywhere. Facebook recently started reopening its offices after a long shutdown, but without offering any benefits such as free food or office shuttles for commute. Improving health conditions and the availability of vaccines were cited as the major reasons for opening of the office campuses.
